What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a whole-body approach to diagnosing and treating pain, injury, and dysfunction. Rather than focusing solely on the site of pain, it looks at how the body functions as an integrated system — recognising that restrictions and imbalances in one area can affect the whole body.

Our approach goes beyond traditional osteopathy by integrating a range of evidence-based techniques tailored to each patient. Hands-on treatment through myofascial release, dry needling, and cupping releases tissue restrictions and restores normal function. Shockwave therapy and infrared laser therapy address deeper structural damage and accelerate healing. Functional Patterns training then reinforces this work by correcting the movement habits and postural patterns that often drive pain and recurring injury.

The goal is always to address not just what hurts, but why — delivering lasting results rather than short-term relief.

Conditions We Treat:

Neck & Head Neck pain and stiffness, headaches and migraines, jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction, and whiplash.

Shoulder & Upper Limb Shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, wrist and hand pain, and repetitive strain injuries.

Back & Spine Upper and lower back pain, sciatica, disc injuries, postural pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and rib pain.

Hip & Pelvis Hip pain and stiffness, gluteal tendinopathy, groin strains, pelvic imbalance, and piriformis syndrome.

Knee & Lower Limb Knee pain, patellar tendinopathy, IT band syndrome, hamstring strains, calf tightness, shin splints, and achilles tendinopathy.

Foot & Ankle Plantar fasciitis, ankle sprains, achilles pain, and general foot pain and dysfunction.

Sports Injuries Muscle strains and tears, ligament sprains, overuse injuries, sports-related tendinopathies, and post-competition recovery.

Chronic Pain & General Complaints Chronic muscle tension, fibromyalgia, postural dysfunction, stress-related muscle tightness, fatigue, and pain following surgery or prolonged illness.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release targets the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles and joints. When fascia becomes tight or restricted through injury, overuse, or poor posture, it can cause pain and limit movement throughout the body.

Using sustained, controlled pressure, the technique encourages tight tissue to release and lengthen, restoring normal movement and reducing pain. Because restrictions in one area can affect the whole body, treatment looks beyond the site of pain to address the underlying cause.

It is commonly used for chronic muscle tension, back and neck pain, postural problems, sports injuries, headaches, and recovery after injury or surgery.

Functional Training

Our functional training is built around the Functional Patterns method, a structured approach to movement that identifies and corrects the root causes of pain, poor posture, and recurring injury.

Rather than isolated exercises, Functional Patterns focuses on retraining the foundational movement patterns — standing, walking, running, and throwing — that underpin everything we do. When these break down, pain and dysfunction follow.

It works particularly well alongside our hands-on treatments, reinforcing the changes made in the clinic and building the physical resilience needed to stay out of pain long term.

Dry Needling

Dry needling uses fine, sterile needles to target trigger points — tight, irritable knots within a muscle that cause localised pain, referred pain, and restricted movement. When a needle is inserted into a trigger point, it stimulates the muscle to relax and release, restoring normal function and reducing pain signals to the nervous system.

It is effective for neck and shoulder pain, headaches, back pain, sports injuries, overuse complaints, and general muscle tightness. It is often used alongside other treatments for a more complete result.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy delivers targeted acoustic sound waves into damaged or chronically painful tissue, stimulating blood flow, breaking down scar tissue, and kickstarting the body's natural repair process. It is particularly effective for injuries that have plateaued or failed to respond to other treatments.

It is most commonly used for tendon complaints such as plantar fasciitis, achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy, and rotator cuff issues, as well as tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, and chronic muscle pain. Most people notice significant improvement within three to six sessions.

Infrared Laser Therapy

Infrared laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light energy to penetrate deep into tissue, stimulating cellular repair and reducing inflammation. It works by activating the body's natural healing processes at a cellular level, increasing circulation and accelerating tissue recovery without discomfort.

It is particularly effective for acute and chronic injuries where inflammation and slow tissue healing are the primary issues. Common applications include tendon and ligament injuries, joint pain, nerve pain, muscle strains, and wounds or post-surgical recovery.

Cupping

Cupping uses specially designed cups to create gentle suction on the skin, lifting the underlying tissue and drawing increased blood flow to the area. This helps loosen tight muscles, break down adhesions, and support the body's natural healing and recovery processes.

It is commonly used for back and neck pain, muscle tension and soreness, restricted movement, and general recovery from physical exertion or injury.

What to expect after treatment?

It is common to experience some mild soreness or fatigue in the treated area for 24 to 48 hours following your session. This is a normal response as your body adjusts and begins to heal, and typically passes quickly.

Most people notice an improvement in pain and movement within a few sessions, though this varies depending on the nature and duration of your complaint. Longer-standing issues generally require more time to resolve than recent injuries.

Staying well hydrated after treatment supports your body's recovery, along with some rest. Your practitioner will advise you on any specific aftercare or exercises relevant to your treatment.
